SMALL WONDER...
is simply a personal website featuring my doll collection of MSD and Yo-SD (both a type of Super Dollfie, for which see below). My dolls "live" in an imaginary school set in a world rather similar to our own (more on the setting below).
Please enjoy your stay here, browse some pictures, and I hope you find Small Wonder entertaining. :)

SUPER DOLLFIE…
are a type of resin ball-jointed doll (BJD). BJDs in general are different from many other kinds of dolls in being highly customisable: their eyes and wigs may be changed as often as you like, faces and bodies may be physically modified and repainted, and hands and feet may be switched for different poses. Super Dollfie (SD) are the first type of BJD that were produced on a commercial scale, and are made by the Japanese company VOLKS (the term “SD” is copyright to VOLKS, but is commonly used to refer to all types of BJD). Many other companies also produce some charming resin BJDs, ranging from a few inches to over 28″ in height.

Volks Mini Super Dollfies (MSD) and Yo-SD are smaller versions of SD, and are designed to be younger. MSD are approximately 16.5″ while Yo-SD are only 10.5″ high. Small Wonder is home to four MSDs and one Yo-SD, just because I prefer the smaller sizes. :-)

THE SETTING…
of Small Wonder is a private school community for children from ages three to eighteen. Divisions from kindergarten to high school are all contained within a village-sized compound, complete with gardens, cafes, a working farm, sports facilities, and even a small forested mountain for hiking. All students, except the very youngest, are encouraged to help out around the school (for instance, by helping to upkeep the gardens, training to be guides for visitors, or volunteering at the kindergarten).

Students elementary level 4 (ten years of age) and above are required to stay in one of the seven boarding houses within the compound. Most younger students go home with their parents after school. The handful of kindergarteners who live here stay in special houses with resident care-takers and teachers.

The boarding house where Shiina, Mitchell and Noel live comprises four floors accomodating around sixty students in total. The stipulated age range for residents is elementary levels 3 to 6. It has a dining hall, ground-level and roof-top gardens, common rooms, and so on.
